While they can be embarrassing in public, farts are apparently a natural occurrence. The bacteria feed on waste from the colon and travel down the anus. This creates pressure in the abdomen, which creates a fart. However, if their odor is particularly bad or they are too frequent, it could indicate a health problem.
How many times a day do you fart?
On average, we fart twenty times a day. If this number is higher, it is not a good sign. Farts are 99% odorless gases, so only 1% of their composition gives them an unpleasant odor. Whether they have a slight odor or are odorless is normal. On the other hand, you have to start worrying if the smell is particularly fragrant or if it is difficult to evacuate them.
If your farts smell like sulfur, you may be suffering from a gastrointestinal infection. It plays on the fermentation of foods as they pass through digestive system. We generally suffer abdominal pain, severe diarrhea, blood, or fever.
you eat too fast
By eating too fast, you swallow a large amount the amount of air that promotes flatulence. We are talking about aerophagia. The solution? Eat more slowly and drink water before eating to give your stomach space. There will be less room for air in the stomach.
Certain food intolerances can affect the smell of farts. It really plays on digestion because the body has a harder time dealing with these foods. It is this that damages the intestines and gives energy to bloating, abdominal pain and therefore gas.
You are eating too much sugar
Bacteria love sugar, which causes gas. However, sugar substitutes also usually cause intestinal gas. Sorbitol, mannitol, and xylitol are full of sugar alcohols that promote gas and bloating.
Hormonal changes such as menopause, can also be responsible for overproduction of gas.
