Thanks to an app on your smartphone or a connected watch, you can check whether you are taking the recommended 10,000 daily steps. Do you really have to walk that much? Why is this criterion insufficient in itself?

10,000 steps to stay in shape

  • 50% risk of dementia,
  • 30% risk cancer,

Even a small walk is beneficial

If you don’t walk that much, your health is not at risk. “For some people, this digit [10 000] may be unrealisticsaid Del Pozo Cruz, one of the authors of the study published in JAMA Internal Medicine. “It’s important every step counts. Go ahead and do it because anything is better than nothing.” So the results showed that every 2000 steps he traveled reduced the risk of death 8 to 11% premature.
