Villefranche-de-Lauragais: we know the municipal election dates and voting rules

The tension is over. In an order dated September 14, 2022, the prefecture of Haute-Garonne established dates of the next one communal election the city of Villefranche-de-Lauragais and also rules governing the submission of candidacies, election campaign and voting.

We remind you that this new election term is a consequence wave of resignations registered within the municipal majority since the beginning of the mandate. Since the end of August, the village council has had no more than 18 members i.e. less than two-thirds of its workforce set to 27. A scenario that automatically leads to new elections.

The first round will take place on Sunday, November 20

and the first round of these elections will therefore take place on Sunday, November 20. Polling stations will be open that day. 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

When second roundthis will take place a week later, i.e Sunday, November 27. Voters will also be able to fulfill their civic duty 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Applications are possible until Thursday, November 3

The prefectural decree also provides conditions for submitting applications. Each team must submit two lists: one equal and inclusive 27 candidates for the city council (perhaps with two substitutes) and the other z seven candidates for the municipal council (mandatory including two substitutes).

To record these applications must be submitted to the prefectural election office in the following time periods:

  • Monday 31 October to Wednesday 2 November between 9:00 and 12:00 and 14:00 and 16:00,
  • Thursday 3 November between 9am and 12pm or between 2pm and 6pm.

The official election campaign will be held Monday 7 November to Friday 18 November in the evening.

Entries in electoral rolls

For citizens of the municipality, the deadline for registration in the electoral rolls is set until Wednesday, October 12 for online registration and during Friday, October 14 for entries at the town hall.

Note that in some cases set Article L30 of the Electoral Codeit is also possible to apply for his registration in the electoral rolls of the municipality up to and including November 10.

There will be at least two rosters in the race

Currently, two lists – whose composition we do not yet know – have already declared themselves.

The first brings together members of the current opposition group headed by Valérie Grafeuille Roudet and the second will be led by former First Deputy Lina Pic along with three other former MPs.
