Metropole just presented its Inspire project in a video on Friday, September 30, which aims to transform the city by 2025-2027.

In Aulnat, Clermont-Ferrand, Cournon-d’Auvergne and Durtol

On the agenda: two new public transport lines, electric buses in dedicated lanes, more than 20 km of cycle paths, public spaces redesigned to offer more space for pedestrians, more trees…

The project declaration allows the Clermont-Auvergne Métropole to confirm the general interest of the company project and will be followed by a declaration of public utility (DUP).

Improving daily travel, transforming the urban landscape, sharing public space: this is a project to restructure the urban transport network that affects the entire territory of the Clermont metropolitan area.

Implementation in two phases

The commissioning will take place in two main stages. The first stage will take place at the end of 2025 with the construction of all terminals (Aulnat, Cournon d’Auvergne, Durtol, Royat and the partial Brézet terminal).

  • Construction of the Technicentre bus in Cournon-d’Auvergne
  • Deployment of rolling stock and related charging system
  • Commissioning of the restructured network
  • Commissioning of two above-standard bus lines B and C with a length of 27 km
  • Related urban development in the city center
  • Opening of new relay parking lots.

Second phase, gradual delivery of the last devices by mid-2027:

  • Continuation of road improvements

The development of the project during its design, in particular the incorporation of numerous comments and suggestions from the residents of the metropolis, required an adjustment of the project costs by €324 million to take into account the extension to Durtol, modifications to the project, other placement of cycle paths, possibly bus lanes on the road, inflation.
