According to Isabella Innocenti
O 300 people demonstrated in Vire Normandie (Calvados) against closure Val de Vire College. A difference from last week’s demonstration: the march was led by elected officials.
After leaving the dormitory, the procession of protesters ended at the Porte Horloge and then in front of the town hall. Vice-Mayor Vire Régis Picot finally spoke:
“We are working with the whole team on alternative solutions to save the college.”
The elected official explained that he had filed a sort of appeal at City Hall, which should be presented at next Monday’s council meeting, “for the entire council to vote against the decision to close the college.”
Pascal Martin, elected from the opposition, also explained: “There has been no proven link between college size and success. It’s enough for Marc Andreu Sabater to say no and it’s all over.”
Elected officials have confirmed participation in the demonstration, which will be held in front of the resort council next Wednesday.
The rest of the events are not yet defined. It is clear that a new assembly will take place on the occasion of the council meeting.
