Brand new supermarket people has just opened in the metropolis of Lyon and complements the offer of mass distribution. This “new generation” of Lidl welcomed its first customers this Wednesday, September 21, 2022, in Vaulx-en-Velin (Rhône), right next to the 8th arrondissement of Lyon.

The new area of ​​1,273 m2 is located a few hundred meters from two tram lines, T6 and T4.

The store is “more spacious and welcoming, offers modern services on an area of ​​over 1,273 m2 and at the same time adopts a sustainable energy policy with in particular 900 m2 of photovoltaic panels and charging stations”, assures the German group already well established in Greater Paris. Lyons.

Photovoltaic panels, charging stations and bio sections

As part of adapting to a more demanding clientele and as part of its move to the upmarket, Lidl is following the green trend with 900 m2 of photovoltaic panels, charging stations for electric cars in the parking lot and a large organic section.

Lidl says it has recruited 40 people to work in the area, which is open Monday to Saturday and 8am to 12.30pm on Sunday.

With the opening of this new store, Lidl continues the renovation of stores with brighter buildings, glass facades, wooden construction, wider shelves and a confectionery and bakery section.

The aim is to break the “discount” image of the brand, which guarantees the sale of “90% private label, 72% products made in France and a uniform price in all its supermarkets”.
