Health authorities are alarmed by the rate of skin cancer among Bretons, which is three times the national average.
For the purpose of sensitization Bretons are at risk of skin cancerHealth authorities are launching an information campaign. Really, Brittany is the region of France that annually registers the highest number of skin cancer cases despite a weather report which is often said to be “less forgiving” than other French regions.
Ultraviolet rays are just as present as elsewhere
And precisely because it is not considered an area threatened by UV radiation, the sun, its inhabitants tend to protect themselves less from ultraviolet rays which are as present as elsewhere. As a result, the Regional Directorate of the Medical Service of Brittany, the CPAMs and the Mutualité sociale agricole have launched an information campaign that will be spread on social networks (Facebook and Instagram) and who reminds us that “it’s not because it’s cloudy or gray that UV rays aren’t dangerous.”
Concerns: Brittany, like other French departments, suffers from a lack of dermatologists capable of detecting skin cancer, which can be fatal.
It’s not because there are clouds or gray that UV rays aren’t dangerous
The challenge, as emphasized by health insurance companies, is to systematically adopt 5 reflective actions from spring and summer: apply sunscreen, wear a hat and glasses, wear protective clothing and stay indoors in the shade between 12:00 and 16:00. Five visuals played on Breton brands and with a humorous tone will be shown, each showing a gesture of protection. Finally, a campaign information page was specially created forward these messages: www.alerte-breizh.fr.
