Saint-Nazaire: let’s go to the construction of the steamer World America

The former is not yet gone, but heads are already turned to the latter. This Monday, October 24, 2022while Ing and Atlantic Shipyards celebrated with great fanfare the delivery of World Europe Saint Nazaire (Loire-Atlantique), we also celebrated the start of construction of her sister ship. As tradition dictates, the shipowner and builder cut open the first plate and revealed his name: World America.

Delivery in 2025

Due to the busy schedule of the day, the ceremony was not held as usual in the workshop, but actually at the foot of World Europe.

Progress in energy efficiency

We don’t know much about the improvements made World America related to World Europe. Pierfrancesco Vago, president of MSC Cruises, particularly emphasized progress in energy efficiency and advocated the “sustainability path”. “A fuel cell will no longer produce kilowatts, but megawatts.”

Optional 4th vessel

MSC has so far confirmed three liners for this World Class series. After’Europe andAmerica, so there will be more to build. The fourth remains optional.

World Europa is still scheduled to depart this Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at 6am high tide.
