After the unprecedented lighting of the walls September 10, 2022an equally unique event took place there Provins (Seine-et-Marne) 17, 18, 24 and 25 September 2022.

Church of the Holy Cross, closed to visitors since 1983, reopened its doors on the occasion of an exhibition bringing to light the important heritage projects carried out in recent decades on the monuments of the medieval city. An opportunity to discover the building, which will be open for the last time this weekend from 1ahem and October 2, 2022.

“The Church of Sainte-Croix is ​​today the last great historical monument of the city, which we still have to strengthen, to save, to restore its majesty,” recalls Olivier Lavenka, mayor of Provins. The Chapel of the Bridges, which became the Church of Sainte-Croix in connection with the return of the Crusades and a fragment of the True Cross, has survived for centuries since its construction in 1154. The Sainte-Croix project will combine the consecration of this church, as we agreed with Father Bishop and the parish, and a cultural, artistic and museographic project. »

At the end of next weekend, the church will actually close to the public for several years of work. “To reopen them better and become again what they should never have been: the largest church in the province,” concludes Olivier Lavenka.
