What to do in the face of poisoning, burns, injuries, trauma, respiratory distress of a dog? So many questions that Christelle Minoli, freelance dog first aid trainer and firefighter in the Aisne, tried to answer during a training session held at the Canicool club Vimeo.

The initiation necessary to know how to respond in an emergency. The purpose of dog first aid training for the general public is to teach trainees how to care for their dog. And only to your dog! It is useless or even dangerous to perform the same gestures on the other animal companies

No knowledge is required

The trainer led demonstrations using a mannequin and/or stuffed animal. This training is designed by veterinarians and is open to everyone. It does not require any special knowledge.

The day is divided into two parts: a theoretical part, during which you will learn to recognize the symptoms of life-threatening emergencies and the reactions to be given before visiting a general practitioner.

The second part, more practical, allows you to apply this newly acquired knowledge. The training offers assistance as important as life, from a minor injury to a dramatic accident, but of course it does not replace the services of a veterinarian.

The training was attended by 12 members of the club and two candidates who came specially from Arras. Sébastien Meslin, the club’s president, said he was satisfied with the day.
