Corine Vrignaud, Assistant for Associations, Sport, Leisure, Volunteering; Xavier Guéguen, president of the territorial committee of the French Mountaineering Federation Vendée (FFME) and Raymond Barreau, who like Xavier Guéguen has been involved in climbing for a long time and wants to be involved, presented the project of the new wall in the future. La Garnache sports complex.

No structure in the sector

“It’s new here,” announced François Petit, mayor of La Garnache. Climbing the walls in the interior will have to wait for the opening of the new sports complex in the city. The municipality decided to install this structure there, which was missing in the area. The space provided is exclusively dedicated to this sport.

A colorful space

“The climbing wall will be located in the multi-sport room, the activity can be carried out simultaneously with other sports because it is isolated by a curtain”, says Corine Vrignaud. The construction will consist of 450 m2 of “climbable” surface with a “difficult wall 11m high x 30m long (29 lines of routes), with a slope of 3.50m”. But also a “bouldering area dedicated to children and initiation”.

The municipality hopes to finish the construction site during the first quarter of 2023.
