If Haute-Garonne does not see Men’s Tour de France in 2023, the Little Queen will not be missing next July.

The news fell on Thursday, October 27, 2022 during the presentation of the course. Blagnac, near Toulouse, will host the sixth stage Women’s Tour de France which will take the peloton from Albi to the outskirts of Toulouse on Friday 28 July 2023. The stage without major difficulties will be 122 kilometers long.

Pediment, Granada, Blagnac…

The towns of Fronton and Grenade will also appear on the day’s route.

“The sprinters will have an ideal opportunity to compete on the 1,100 meters of the final straight that awaits them,” the organization announces.

But watch out for the wind, which could mess up the racers.

A nod to history, this peloton will undoubtedly break the speed limit as all roads in the city of Airbus will be limited to 30km/h from next year. They will surely be forgiven for speeding in the final stretch.

“Supporting women’s sports”

“By organizing the Women’s Tour de France in Blagnac, we want to contribute to the encouragement of women’s sport and show it in all its glory. I know that the public will be loyal to the meeting to admire and cheer on these athletes. Next summer we will invite the people of Blagnac to our traditional Estivités and…to the women’s Tour de France, an event that can bring together families with the same passion, cycling and sport,” he rejoiced the mayor of Blagnac, Joseph Carles.

Blagnac, the city of Tour

For 40 years, Blagnac has hosted the Tour de France many times, both as a finish, especially in the 1980s, and exclusively as a starting city since 1990.

The last time was in 2017, and the riders then joined Rodez.

However, this is not the first time that Blagnac will host the women’s Tour de France. The city actually hosted the event several times in the 1980s, most notably the Grand Départ of the competition in 1989.
