Loiret. The department invests in the development of renewable energies

The department of Loiret intends to invest in renewable energies and especially in photovoltaic panels. (© Republican South Gironde)

In June 2022, the department presented its project for a semi-public company for to develop the production of renewable energies in Loiret. A complete round table is now known. During a meeting on October 20 and 21, the union and its private partners agreed that the future company would provide and capital of EUR 9 million.


This structure can directly support certain projects or participate financially (investment in capital, deposits to partners’ current accounts) to specialized project companies.

The advantage of such a structure for the department is governance controlbe associated with private partners who provide recognized expertise, capital and risk sharing, and maintain the core value creation for the community. 5 union advisers were appointed during the meeting the following will sit on the board: Marc Gaudet, Anne Gaborit, Philippe Vacher, Hugues Raimbourg and Jean-Luc Riglet.

This new semi-public company is part of proactive environmental policy of the department, which resulted in particular in the adoption of the internal COP and which, from 2023, will represent the budget in an environmental prism.

Projects have already been identified

A number of projects photovoltaic power plantsfor which the Ministry already has land, the following were identified:

  • shade shelter in the common area of ​​Châteauneuf-sur-Loire,
  • agrovoltaic construction of the land around the Saint-Pères farm in Saint-Cyr-en-Val,
  • roof installations (hangars), shading and ground installations at Loiret Airport,
  • installation on the roofs of universities,
  • valuation of abandoned departmental roads.

Finally, other projects will be studied, especially the project creating an electrolyzer to produce hydrogen in a park in the Saussaye area of ​​Saint-Cyr-en-Val, from a future photovoltaic plant.
