According to Writing The Pays d’Auge
On Friday, September 16, 2022, the Les Chemins de Lécaude association received François Aubey, the mayor of Mézidon Vallée d’Auge, Nathalie Truffaut, the vice-mayor of Lécaude, Andrée Desveaux, the vice-mayor responsible for sports, and many members of the municipality. and open route No. 28, called du Haut-Pisté.
As usual, the comedy tramps of the company welcomed their guests with a theatrical skit thanks to the talent of the sparkling Francine-la-garde-champêtre and the irresistible humor of Luc-le-hippie. After this tasty introduction, the group set off on a journey that was the subject of a ceremony where François Aubey cut the inaugural ribbon before setting out to explore the route.
On June 14, 2016, the mayor of the historic city of Lécaude decided to ban access to Route No. 28, known as du Haut du Mont Pisté, by city ordinance for security reasons. In 2021, the town of Mézidon Vallée d’Auge launched a study to assess the character of the terrain of this route. The municipality therefore requested the services of the Office of Geological and Mining Research (BRGM).
BRGM, under the supervision of the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, the Ministry for Ecological and Solidarity Transformation, as well as the Ministry of Economy and Finance, is a benchmark public institution for the management of resources and risks in soil and subsoil. The summary of the conducted study pointed to a low probability of observing landslides on road No. 28. With these facts in mind, the municipality decided to cancel the decree prohibiting entry to this road on October 8, 2021.
The tourist association Les Chemins de Lécaude mobilized in the spring of 2022 and undertook to clean up route No. 28 by carrying out cleaning, removing dead trees and other obstacles preventing its passage.
During the summer of 2022, municipal services carried out earthworks on the trail to fill in holes dug by badgers (meles meles). Since then, the path has been accessible to all and connects the top of the plateau with the Church of the Assumption of Our Lady de Lécaude. On the other hand, for hikers and other walkers to enjoy the journey, a picnic table is set up at the end of the Haut du Mont Pisté path.
