By 2023 north of Caen on the Côte de Nacre (Calvados), 76.5 km of trails will be built, developed or taken over, creating loops for pedestrians and cyclists.

Eight months of construction

Almost four years later, work began on the development of the Caen-la-Mer cycling loops in the Côte de Nacre sector. The first development was carried out in July 2022. The end of the project is scheduled for March 2023.

Six municipalities

Between land and sea, loops cross six towns: Bénouville, Colleville-Montgomery, Hermanville-sur-Mer, Lion-sur-Mer, Ouistreham Riva-Bella and Saint-Aubin-d’Arquenay.

New tracks or old roads

Loops are “the creation, but also the development or restoration of pre-existing cycle paths or hiking trails that have been reclassified as shared paths,” explains the urban community.

Loops for everyone

The seven loops are designed for pedestrians and cyclists and are of different sizes (from 4 to 26 km) and are accessible to everyone.
