Bylaws have just been imposed: ACAPE (Association of Merchants and Craftsmen of Évran) is born. “It’s been ten years since there was a trade association in Evran,” complains Alexis Madre, president of the association and also a real estate agent. Membership has not yet started, but contacts have been made and the response is largely positive.
“In order to have weight, it is in our interest to have as many of us as possible. Traders and artisans are encouraged to be part of the association. We also hope to establish more shops and services if the property allows,” says Stéphane Bougrat, treasurer of the association.
New for Christmas markets
“This year, the Christmas market will take place on Sunday afternoon, December 11, from 3 to 8 p.m. It will take up the entire high street, from Puits Sans Fond to the PMU bar, passing by Place Jean-Perrin,” explains secretary Sonia Thérouin.
A detour will be in place for vehicles. Animations are already planned: music, the presence of Jesus Christ, nativity scene. “We’re going to bring out my father’s nursery. We all have fond memories of it. I remember the life-size sled that the kids could fit in,” smiles Alexis. The municipality will provide logistical and financial support.
Recreate a commercial fortnight?
The commercial fortnightly noted the memory of the Evrannais. “It was a very special moment in the life of the city. Merchants gave small discounts, there was a lot, a wheel of fortune. This kind of entertainment is rare in our parts; it’s different from garage sales,” emphasizes the team, which does not seem to lack the energy to revive Evrano.
