The decision has been made. Three weeks after learning of his suspension at Joliot-Curie High School v Nanterre (Hauts-de-Seine) for unclear reasons, Kai Terada was convened on Thursday, September 22, 2022 at the Academy of Versailles. She issued an order stating that the math teacher is ” transferred in the interest of the servicefrom September 26, 2022 at the high school Jean-Baptiste Poquelin in Saint-Germain-en-Laye “in Yvelines.

“Enable a return to the smooth functioning of the business”

In this decree it is written that “Joliot-Curie High School is experiencing a disturbing situation both with regard to the working climate in the educational community and the proper functioning and continuity of the public service of education. (…) The deterioration of working relations within the teaching team is supported by the attitudes taken by a minority (…) questioning in particular, in a virulent and repeated way, the guidelines and the framework defined by the “institution”.

Several teachers would tell the administration “of suffering at work and even being afraid to come to work.” This is why Academic Services has made “several transfers in the interest of service”, including the transfer of Kai Terada.

The name of Mr. Kai Terada regularly appears as an active participant outside the bodies of the social dialogue of the institutions as well as the normal performance of trade union activity in the deterioration of the climate in the educational community.

Decree of the Academy of Versailles

The academy insists that his “conduct and his remarks (…) do not constitute misconduct that could justify the initiation of disciplinary proceedings.” However, “his transfer in the interest of the service seems necessary to return to the smooth running of the business”.

Notice of national strike filed

The decision did not go down well with the teachers’ union, which condemns the “illegal” transfer and remains convinced that it is “union repression”. Kai Terada is an ardent union activist, co-secretary of the Sud Education union in Hauts-de-Seine, has participated in many struggles, local and national.

While Kai Terada’s colleagues sustained the strike movement and increased support actions for three weeks, they did not take off. This Friday, September 23, from 7:45 a.m. they formed a “human line” in front of Nanterre town hallwhich faces Joliot-Curie High School.

The movement to support teachers, which has already taken on a national dimension, is gaining strength this Friday. Several teachers from Île-de-France joined the rally outside Joliot-Curie High School this Friday morning. Nationwide strike notices were also given.

This is especially the case of the Voltaire High School in Paris, which calls to “oppose the repression of the trade unions, which targets Kai Terada and beyond, all those who fight against the deterioration of our working conditions, the conditions of the students’ studies and for the real public “. education service’.

In Seine-et-Marne, this Friday the Balzac secondary school, which has been mobilizing for the past three weeks, is also “reaffirming” its support.

Support from the elected officials of Ile-de-France

Elected representatives of Ile-de-France also expressed their indignation, such asAurelia found, representative of Seine-Saint-Denis, who writes on Twitter: “Support for #KaiTerady, maths teacher in Nanterre (92), transferred to another department without reason… But the reason is well known: union repression. »

As regards Maxime Laisneyrepresentative of Seine-et-Marne, condemns on Twitter “scandalous decision (…). This is obviously about breaking any attempt at collective resistance, but more so about respect for the rule of law! » and calls on the Minister of National Education, Pap Ndiaye.

A rally is planned in the prefecture

The rally is scheduled for 15:30 in front of Nanterre Prefecture. There will be a meeting with the Directorate of Trade Union Services of National Education (DSDEN) in Hauts-de-Seine.
