On the occasion of its opening, the center of contemporary art found river based in Aube (Orne) organizes the opening of the exhibition “There was a country in them” Saturday 24 September from 2.30pm to 8.30pm.
The exhibition will be open from Saturday 24 September to Sunday 16 October 2022.
The exhibition “There was a country in them” presents both sculptures, installations, drawings, paintings and photographs created for the grand opening of the site. The creations react to each other in a trajectory of ideas imbued with poetry around connection with nature.
The exhibition presents internationally recognized artists exhibiting in museums and galleries, as well as young graduates. Through about forty works, the exhibition offers reflection on the relationship to the world around us. The work of these artists, sometimes dreamy, other times engaged, is built on ideas of territory, environment, fragments, memories of dreams and doubts.
The exhibition presents the work of Amélie Boulin, Pierre Duval, Fanny Ferre, Deborah Fischer Scarlett, Vanessa Garner, Angèle Guerre, Raphaëlle Peria, Clary Rivault, Yves Robuschi, Cheyenne Schiavone, Thomas Van Reghem, Jerome Wilot Maus.
Visitors are invited to dream with the artists on a path excavated from the ruins of other paths. Artists work on losing boundaries, limits, creating otherness and questioning elsewhere. They search the rubble picking materials to capture the vulnerable flight of life.
The Center for Contemporary Art La Rivière Retrouvée is a non-profit association based in Aube, in the heart of Normandy. It has a room of 400m2 overlooking the Grosse Forge Museum Pond and close to the Countess Ségur Museum. This place was designed to host contemporary art exhibitions and art-making workshops. It is also intended for the subsequent accommodation of an artist residency.
The association was founded in February 2022 by Thomas Van Reghem, a visual artist, and Egidio Souto, a university lecturer. Thanks to the network developed in the world of contemporary and university art, the project aims to be deployed in different places (local museums, public spaces, natural spaces, agricultural spaces, exhibition spaces, etc.) that reflect the richness of the resort.
The art center aims to be a participative place where friendly meetings open to the whole public are created in order to create social bonds and well-being around contemporary art.
Entrance and association membership €5, free for children under 18. Center for Contemporary Art La Rivière Retrouvée 1, rue SGTS Biard in Aube. Open on Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday from 14:00 to 18:00.
