According to Hugo Maillard
In the alleys Grenoble city centerthe door of the old monastery deserves to be pushed open.
If it seems quite modest from the outside, a guide can give you a glimpse into the interior of this religious site. Above the entrance door sits a stone statue representing Titeuf, as if it had always been there.
This building in the center of the city is the Sainte-Cécile Monastery. Rest assured, the comic book hero is not yet elevated to the same rank as the icon of the Catholic religion.
The reason for his presence is completely different. In 2004, a publishing house from Grenoble bought the walls of the former monastery with the wish not to distort this historic building. For this reason, the statue of Titeuf was made from materials similar to that found at the site.
The successful work of a young boy with blond locks fits perfectly into the interior.
Do not hesitate to push the door
This statue is not the only peculiarity of this monastery 2.0. By pushing the door of the Sainte-Cécile monastery, it is possible to discover a real library. Editions Glénat decided to establish the headquarters of the company at this location.
Architects have been commissioned to complete the transformation of this building in Grenoble transformed stained glass windows. Looking up at the sky, you’ll notice that the stained glass windows are now comic book miniatures.
From October 13, 2022 to January 21, 2023, an exhibition of photographs by Robert Doisneau can be seen in the monastery.
