According to Raphael Motte
Road passenger transport companies are having difficulty recruiting drivers. The crisis is particularly affecting the school transport industry, which requires experienced drivers. Tangothe public transport network of the agglomeration You don’t (Gard) touches.
300 students were affected
Of the 15,000 Agglo students who get to their school, college or high school every day thanks to the Tango school bus, almost 300 users of suburban and rural lines serving secondary schools in Bouillargues, Clarensac and Marguerittes (Tempo lines 203b, 229, 217, 216) are today affected by this lack of drivers.
11 wires are missing
Out of approximately 405 Tango network drivers, 11 drivers are missing. The workforce is very strained once a driver is absent, either services on his line are kept to timetables as far as possible or are “degraded”, that is partially provided by other drivers present.
“If no other controller can be assigned to it, they are simply removed,” we explain to Agglo.
To overcome structural recruitment difficulties in the sector, Transdev and Coop Voyageurs have hired 30 a series of measures to facilitate the recruitment of drivers. In this context, an information morning organized by Pôle Emploi and Coop Voyageurs 30 took place on Tuesday 20 September 2022 at the Hemicycle Community Hotel.
Together with President Franck Proust, we are aware of the effort required of users when training new drivers. Nîmes Métropole and its representative Transdev are mobilizing to find short- and medium-term solutions so that users do not experience any absence of school transport.
Information the day before!
waiting, Tango guarantees that it will notify all users affected by the canceled services one day in advance at the end of the day through the web tangobus.fr and social networks so that families can organize themselves when needed.
