Stones and magic, Friday, October 21, 2022 in Docks Vauban of Refuge for choice Miss Normandy 2022. During this evening, twelve young women competed for the famous scarf and crown. Their goal is to succeed Youssr Askry and represent the Normandy region at the Miss France pageant on December 17 in nearby Déols Chateauroux.

Finally, it’s Caennaise Perrine Prunier23, who was elected ahead of the current Miss France Diane Leyre, her predecessor and former Miss Normandy Amandine Petit and of course Youssra Askry.

Among these twelve applicants are two young women fromEurosand more specifically from our sector, namely Safietou Kabengele from Val d’Hazey and Gladys Planquois from Trois Lacs. Both candidates carried the department’s colors high, both placing in the top 5 to win the second scarf.

Safietou Kabengele, who was already a candidate last year, therefore tried her luck again this year. The scarf seemed within reach of this 24-year-old candidate. Finally, the young Albavian does better than in 2021 and becomes the first runner-up to Perrine Prunier.

“The adventure of Miss Normandy gave me confidence, allowed me to win the hearts of a large part of the public and make new friendships with other candidates. We were sad to part ways at the end of the competition, “she confided to her followers on social networks after the ceremony with a big smile.

“I also gained a lot in maturity, in confidence. I learned to take a step back from myself”

For Safieta, this runner-up spot means she’s succeeded in her bet of “making an impression,” as she hinted in our previous issue. Despite everything, she felt a touch of disappointment at not winning the competition.

“I’m not that sad, although I would like to win the crown. It doesn’t matter because I gave it my all. »

You sweep away any possible discrimination related to skin color or origin: “I felt good during the competition, the Normans were also behind me. If I had such a blast, it’s also because of the support from the room that I felt. »

Despite this great adventure and this progress, Safietou confirms that this is indeed her last participation. “I am happy that I am leaving the world of Miss with my head held high and that I was the public’s choice,” she assures. From now on, he plans to focus on other projects:

“I have energy to give away elsewhere. For my association, but also in my professional life. »

Gladys Planquois, third place

In her first participation, Gladys Planquois did well. She is fourth, earning third place at Miss Normandy 2022.

“I didn’t think I’d finish in the top 5. I’m proud of myself,” says the young woman, who is still happy with her “beauty pageant” adventure. Pride all the stronger because it was his first competition.

“It’s a really unique experience during which I learned to overcome myself, like speaking in front of 2,000 people present in a room. »
