According to Anthony Assemat
“It will be a season of joy… and joy! “. Stephane Batlleartistic director of Le Grenier de Toulouse, is terribly excited about the idea of starting a new season in the setting of l’Escale, in Tournefeuille (Haute-Garonne), west of Toulouse. After Covid and the 2021-2022 season despite all the ups and downs, the 2022-2023 season must be a season of success, bubbling, laughter and theatrical drama.
With his loyal band (Pierre Matras, Muriel Darras, Laurent Collombert…) he warns: “We will fire from all the forests!” “. It recalls the highlights of this season News from Toulouse.
News: You will start the season with the performance of “Oscar”, popularized by Louis de Funès, from September 21 to October 2, 2022. This is promising!
Stéphane Batlle: “This season will be art in joy and the joy of art. We are taking over the production we designed in 2019. It was before the cut of Covid, but it was a hit with more than 8000 spectators. Pierre Matras will play the role of Mr. Barnier and give it his own imagination . It’s a masterpiece, what better way than ‘Oscar’ to attack the season!”
What attractions have you prepared for your loyal audience?
SB: “Muriel Darras will present her first creation and production with “L”, which she will present at the Théâtre du Pavé, from October 25 to 29, 2022. It is a play that deals with the theme of transgender people. We will also work with the other Grenier, Grenier Théâtre, where we will perform “Le guetteur mélancolique” (October 6 to 22, 2022, editor’s note) and the return of “Irrésistible” with Pierre Matras and Céline Bernat (January 26 – February 131, 2022 It’s a very delicate play on the border the possibility of the pair, written by Fabrice Roger-Lacan, grandson of the psychoanalyst Jacques Lacan.
We will present two creations in the highlights. The first “Ubu Roi”, from December 15 to 31, 2022, a farce about madness and power. There will be a gallery of goofy characters! And then “Othello”, in March 2023, where we address this masterpiece through an original staging with a more modern cast, as we already did for “Cyrano”.
In short, we will sweep a wide spectrum with comedies, classics, pure creation, poetry… All this in the popular theater “and carrying the Grenier flag throughout the metropolis.
What are Toulouse Grenier’s plans for the coming months?
SB: “We are moving to a new stage of cultural decentralization. We are implementing a project to decentralize the professionalization of theater and acting professions: the creation of an educational course for acting apprentices and a university diploma. It is a project for Occitania and for France. The idea is that we can train not only in Paris! The goal is launch all of this in September 2023. We will be communicating more on this topic in the coming months.”
The best of the cultural season in l’Escale
L’Escale de Tournefeuille is the Grenier de Toulouse… but not only that!
The Municipal Hall, which welcomes more than 50,000 spectators each season, will offer (in no particular order) Bertrand Belin, Baro d’evel, Merci Group or even the immense Jean-François Zygel and the Orchester du Capitole.
The famous Toulouse ensemble will perform “Mon Mozart à moi” on April 30, 2023. “You will also find our usual accomplices here: Bajo el Mar, Cie Sylvain Huc and the Chamber Orchestra of Toulouse,” says the Town Hall in Tournefeuille.
The season will be marked by three festivals: Marionnettissimo (from 24 to 27 November), Gospel Touch (from 16 to 19 March 2023) and Les Eccentrics de l’Escale (16 and 17 June). Theatre, dance, puppets, music… The season will be eclectic again at Tournefeuille.
Grenier nursery is back, instructions for use
This new season, the section nursery is back. With Les Souris du Grenier, there is a good care solution if you want to be zen when you go to the show.
The service is intended for children from 6 to 12 years of age and is free of charge (advance reservation required). “We welcome children from 8 p.m. until 30 minutes after the end of the show,” reports Grenier de Toulouse.
Childcare is not provided on site, at l’Escale, but at the Maison du Grenier, rehearsal and ensemble location (2, rue George Sand, in Tournefeuille). A little something extra from the kindergarten: a theater will be set up for the children!
The crèche will be open for the first time this season on Saturday, October 1, 2022 at 8 p.m.
