Cherbourg. Already convicted 21 times, a 40-year-old man tried for a series of thefts

43 year old mancurrently in prison custody Caenwas judged on Tuesday, September 20 Cherbourg Criminal Court for a series of thefts at several Cherbourg businesses in 2020.

On July 3, 2020, the police services were called by the security of the shopping center Éléis k theft in a Carrefour store. The individual was caught attempting to cash out while hiding under his coat six video games Nintendo Switch, mayonnaise and ketchup with a loss of €352.

A man, heavily alcoholic, makes incoherent remarks. He is arrested. His alcohol level is measured at the police station: 1.92 g of alcohol in the blood.

Theft of cigarettes

At the beginning of 2020, the same man, known unfavorably to the courts, was already arrested for two thefts in newsagents. On January 13, he stole three packs of cigars from a tobacconist Pont Marais shopping center in Tourlaville and fled from arrest.

On February 4, the police were called bar-tobacco press La Civetterue du Val-de-Saire, for stealing a package cigarettes. The alcoholic author was still there, detained by the owner of the establishment, who ordered him to return the package to his place in the window.

CCTV images of the businessman also made it possible to confuse him in three other similar thefts. Amount of damage: €19.40.

On Tuesday, September 20, in the courtroom, the defendant refused to give details of his past actions, rather “shut up” to every question of Mr. President.

Decision of November 15

The case was referred several times, the court requested a psychiatric examination. This fringe, father of three, already has 21 entries in his criminal recordespecially for acts of theft, forgery, concealment or violation of anti-drug legislation.

The public prosecutor’s office in Cherbourg asked for a four-month prison sentence for him with a sentencing order. The case was adjourned to November 15, 2022.
