Château-Gontier: around sixty works of art about insects to discover in the garage

Funny little creatures will invade the premises of the garage in Château-Gontier (Mayenne) in autumn 2022.

From October 29 to November 27, 2022five artists exhibit their insect-themed creations in the venue’s studio at 14 avenue de la Gare.

Between them, Carmen Bernaudeau (large format drawing), Alain Goisbault (steel sculpture), sticker bernard (drawing in the frame), Simon Pavec (ceramic) a Jamel Zeddam (mache sculpture) with a collection of thirteen insect display cases on loan from ZOOM, a science museum Laval (Mayenne).

“Insects? I thought of that. The idea is to show their beauty and that they are our friends, with some environmental awareness of course. I wanted to invite people to the theme.”

“Jamel was the first person I talked to about it. I saw large-format drawings of Carmen during his first exhibition so i asked him to come. »

“I also knew that Alain was able to create in a short time and the talent of Bernard, who drew insects our box was the last to join us. »

Not without a bit of a challenge, the assembled artists were asked to step out of their ways comfort zone. “Bernard, for example, is more used to working in black and white than in color. »

Six rooms

“As for Alain, I told him at the beginning that I would like a big insect 1.50 m to welcome the public,” he laughs.

Six rooms are spread out in order to find the museum side 230 m2. “I will take care of the scenography and artists, while Jacques Morin will provide the lighting. »

“As we end in the dark, we end. dramatize all with lights. School classes interested in the exhibition can get in touch. »
