According to a study by the University of Wageningen, people who consume the most water have a better sense of satiety and higher brain activity than others. In addition, drinking water increases the energy the body needs to function. But drinking water also reduces excess salt and water retention, especially when combined with fiber.

When to drink water?

The University of Birmingham conducted a study on two groups of overweight people. The first group had to drink half a liter of water thirty minutes before each meal. The other just had to imagine the feeling of fullness. So the group that drank water lost an average of 1.3 kilograms more than the other group. On the other hand, it should be noted that this group was supervised and had a healthy lifestyle.

For water weight loss to work, you need to follow a few principles. Water should be drunk throughout the day and in small amounts. You should also drink a glass or two of water, no more, at least 30 minutes before eating. But be careful, we are talking about still water, because sparkling water can cause indigestion, cause gas and swell the stomach.

Choose your water wisely too:

  • Rich in magnesium: reduces fatigue and small hunger pangs
  • Rich in sulfates: supports intestinal passage and excretion of toxins
