Back to school with new activities at MPT in Abbeville

About twenty qualified speakers known in the area, a number of regular and occasional activities, workshops for children to seniors… A house for everyone in Abbeville (Sum) is aptly named. A large house that has just reopened its doors with a rich and eclectic program.

One of the strengths of the structure is to offer activities under the supervision of renowned speakers, as stated by the director Christophe Piat : “All our facilitators, whether in language, music, dance, etc., are qualified and renowned in the region. Like Rémi Foulon, who handles computer-aided music activities, who is the bassist of La Bonne Heure. Or Anne Mc Connon, English teacher at Boucher-de-Perthes High School. »

Regular activities

By registering at MPT, children, teenagers or adults can practice several types of dance every week: African, modern dance, social dance, folk dances, world dances and this year’s novelty: elgo dance. You can also learn or improve foreign languages: Italian, English and Spanish.

For well-being and relaxation, you can also take part in yoga, sophrology, tai-chi, Qi Gong and Pilates classes.

MPT also includes art courses with circus art, piano, singing and music, percussion, drums, theater… This year the structure is relaunching the activities of young researchers with activities on the program for 7-11 scientists from the environment, the planet, biodiversity or even astronomy.

Multimedia factory

The House Multimedia Factory for All (free for members) offers several meetings. The Fab Lab Art’ to accompany art or craft approaches on Tuesdays from 17:00 to 19:00; 3D printing apprentices, especially on Wednesdays from 2 to 4 p.m.; free access with or without a facilitator at the factory on Fridays from 14:00 to 19:00.

Occasional activities

MPT also offers one-off coffee show dates, notably Harry Cover’s concert on October 7th, coffee dates with a three-party scheduled for September 24th. Excursions are offered, such as a visit to the St-André cultural space, a day in Paris, etc.

Workshops are intended for future mothers (wearing babies in a sling, breastfeeding, etc.). There are specific sessions for young parents, such as baby sign language or baby massage counseling. Family fun afternoons are also planned.

English lessons, electric guitar, elgo dance…

MPT offers several new program features this year. Anne Mc Connon conducts English lessons in a fun way for children (4-6 and 7-11 years old), but also for adults (beginners to advanced). Youth and adults can also learn about computer-aided music with Rémi Foulon of La Bonne Heure. A theater workshop is prepared for children and adults. Other news include an elgo dance with Sandra Accart. A new discipline that has already found its audience on Wednesdays from 19:00 to 20:00 at CAF. A dance that combines fitness and girl dance with cardio and muscle strengthening, all on heels for the more experienced. Sneakers are still allowed.

Young people can take courses, participate in various workshops or sign up for trips such as Paris Games Week on November 4, a real paradise for video game fans. The repair cafe, which allows you to come and repair small household appliances, is renewed with the first meeting on Saturday, September 24, from 9 am to 12 noon.

Seniors are not left out with multiple appointments. Very active seniors, as Christophe Piat says with pleasure: “A group of seniors has been trained at MPT and arranged to stay in Brittany. The group will go to Beg Meil ​​in Finistère for a week.

The director recalls the main goal of his structure: “to promote access to culture at a low price without degrading services. We support the integration of all audiences with a great mix. Contribution rates are calculated according to the family share or the tax share. »

The social organization Maison pour tous-Centre, which had 814 members last year, hopes to reach 900 this season.
