Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler Quits American Idol

Both Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler had 2 years in being American Idol judges for the past two seasons, Season 10 and 11. And after this two seasons, both decided to leave the top-rated singing reality show in the US.

But reports said otherwise:

Jennifer Lopez says it was her choice to leave “American Idol” — but the singer was actually dumped by Fox when she asked for a $2 million raise in salary to $17 million, a person familiar with the negotiations told TheWrap.

Fox also opted not to pick up Steven Tyler’s option, the person said. Tyler announced his departure Thursday, saying he had decided to devote his energies to his first love, Aerosmith. Lopez said she wanted to focus on other aspects of her career and her children.

Reports also said that Randy Jackson has a possibility of exiting the show as well.

The insider said top Fox executives Peter Rice and Kevin Reilly want to revamp the show, and that Rice has told colleagues he wants an “Idol 2.0,” of which host Ryan Seacrest would be the only essential ingredient.

Whatever the Fox executives decides on American Idol next season, hopefully it can showcase great talents to grab more audiences.  I will watch if contestants are talented and interesting enough.  ^_^

That’s right! What is important are the talented contestants and not the judges. I think people will still watch AI, even without famous judges.

They should revamp the show so long as it prevents another WGWG in the making which is a boring trend.

Funny, my 6-year old daughter got sad when she heard about J-Lo leaving AI. Obviously, she’s a fan :)

I for one will miss Steven Tyler on the show. Well, maybe change is good, even for American Idol.

No matter what they try to spin via the press, money negotiations is usually the route of why celebrities leave a show.

There also were speculations that they were fired. How intriguing.

I feel like AI is loosing it’s main idea. They are right, as long as WGWG will not win again, hahah! I heard naman that JLo quits because it’s really taking a lot of personal time from her. Same with what happen with Ellen on why she quit the shows. I’m not sure with this. Napanood ko lang hehehe!

  7. Olga says:

I’ve been living in the boondocks (figuratively, that is) that I’ve never even seen a single episode of the last two AI seasons. AI needs a revamp probably because it has been losing audience share through the years.

  8. And I have been informed. Change is always on the corner.
